'Saheb' now at Colaba!

Shiv Sena Supremo and founder Bal Thackeray's statue was inaugurated on 23 January 2021, the leader's 95th birth anniversary. The statue stands nine ft tall on a 11 ft pedestal in his signature open-armed pose he used to bless party workers during his speeches. The statue has been installed on a traffic island outside the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) and opposite Regal Cinema in Colaba. Famous sculptor Shashikant Phadke has carved the statue. The event saw the attendance of NCP President Sharad Pawar, BJP politician Devendra Fadnavis, MNS Chief Raj Thackeray and Congress minister Balasaheb Thorat who joined Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Aditya Thackeray in unveiling the statue amid the sounds of cymbals and sringa (tutari).
