CHANGE OF COMMAND: Surgeon RAdm Arti Sarin and Surgeon RAdm Anupam Kapur
Surgeon Rear Admiral Arti Sarin had assumed command of INHS Asvini, the flagship hospital of the Indian Navy, from Surgeon Rear Admiral Sheila S Mathai on 30 January 2021. The event had assumed significance as not many Armed Forces have a precedent of a handing/taking over between two women flag officers.

INHS Asvini is the premier super-specialty Command Hospital of the Indian Navy located in Colaba, Mumbai. It is the first amongst all the Naval hospitals which, in 1756, started functioning in barracks as King’s Seamen Hospital for in- patients.
