Siddharth College Naval NCC Cadets Spread Road Safety Awareness

As part of the ongoing Road Safety Month, personnel from Colaba Traffic Division and cadets from the Siddharth Detachment of 1 Maharashtra Naval Unit NCC conducted an awareness event at Gateway of India on 3 February 2021. 

During the event, 18 cadets of Siddharth College Naval NCC Unit of 1 Maharashtra stood outside the Gateway of India holding placards with messages on road safety and precautions for the benefit of tourists and visitors.

Lt Cdr Dr Sunil Kamble (Retd), also the Vice Principal of Siddharth College of Commerce and Economics at Fort, Mumbai said, "Siddharth Detachment of 1 Maharashtra Naval NCC Unit has been conducting this event with traffic police for the last six years."

Colaba Traffic Division PI Mubarak Shaikh noted, "This is part of the Road Safety Month. We are conducting awareness drives with several entities to spread the word.The cadets also conducted a similar event at Regal Junction earlier in the day."

The cadets held placards displaying messages on safety precautions to be taken by drivers, vehicle maintenance, hazards of drinking and driving, etc.

PSI Vinayak Khawnekar of Colaba Traffic Division also present at the event said, "It was a successful event and part of the ongoing month-long campaign."

Lt Cdr Kamble said, "The NCC has been very supportive of such events and awareness programmes. The cadets display their social commitment by participating in awareness programmes, tree plantations, etc. Today's event lasted for about three hours where the cadets displayed placards at several locations in Colaba."
